Family Finance

This semester I am enjoying my Family Finance class at BYU with Dr. Hill. I was excited to take this class because I wanted to learn how to better take care of my personal and eventually my family finances.
There is a quote in the family finance booklet given out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Church which I really like:

“We encourage you wherever you may live in the world to prepare for adversity by looking to the condition of your finances. We urge you to be modest in your expenditures; discipline yourselves in your purchases to avoid debt. … If you have paid your debts and have a financial reserve, even though it be small, you and your family will feel more secure and enjoy greater peace in your hearts” (All Is Safely Gathered In: Family Finances)

It is a promise given to us that if you become responsible stewards of your finances, that you will be happier, and find peace in this crazy world of trials. I know that this is true. I am not the best at planning and keeping a budget, but I do understand the importance of dedicating all to the Lord, staying out of debt and helping those in need. I just watched a TED talk on the topic of "money can buy happiness". The speaker emphasized that money can indeed buy happiness, when you spend it on someone else and have pro-social intentions.
